Search Engine Optimisation for Fashion and Retail eCommerce - Free Course

Unknown 0 9:00:00 AM

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">If you are new to Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) which basically makes sure that your website is found by users searching on Google, then this is a great free video course.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">One of the challenges, especially for new fashion sites, is duplicate content. So if a manufacturer creates a product description and you then use that product description on your website, then Google will rank your content as duplicate and of less importance and therefore is less likely to display it to consumers searching for this.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">There are some technical aspects of SEO, but before you get into that, this video course will help you understand the business elements, why its so important to customers finding your website and you making sales.
Your technology partner should be adding sales channels like Facebook Messenger

Unknown 0 8:00:00 AM

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">If you want so sell online, one of the first questions you are going to have to ask yourself is, do I want to develop my own technology from scratch, or do I want to choose a technology partner.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Developing everything yourself takes time and capital investment, but the biggest disadvantage of developing your solutions is that you will never keep up with a technology platform like Shopify.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

Shopify<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"> not only has a selling platform for in-store iPad, website, Facebook etc, but it also has its own app store where different partners can integrate services into your online shop.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">One of the most recent additions to <span style="color: #0000ee; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; text-decoration: underline;">Shopify<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"> is Facebook Messenger.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">So if you have made the sale on your Facebook <span style="color: #0000ee; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; text-decoration: underline;">Shopify<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"> store you can now use Messenger for customer service purposes. Because this is <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"> <span style="color: #0000ee; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; text-decoration: underline;">Shopify<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"> then, of course, you have all of your product details right there, along with all the order details. A vast improvement on any other tool that is not integrated into your sales channel.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">As well as customer service it allows you to drop vouchers to generate future sales right where you competition are not, like e-mail.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">eCommerce is growing exponentially across the world. Your product or fashion label could be part of that, but make sure you choose a technology which will allow you to meet your customers wherever they are online.

Google has a new ad type - Product Listing Advertisments - Free Course

Unknown 0 e-commerce ecommerce 8:00:00 AM

Here is a great free online course on Product Listing Advertisements.

When you type an item like "Sports Coat" one section of Google as below will display sponsored section with images of sports coats with prices. So users can click on a link and go direct to the merchant.

So this is about users searching for products and going direct to a product page, instead of searching for a merchant and then searching a merchant website for a product.

You need to interact with Google Shopping via an API (Application Programming Interface. Nothing to scary, it simply means that Google has a format that it needs to receive data in, and in order do

The technical challenges of this are that you need to produce a data feed of all the products you want to put on sale. In this feed you will need to include the data Google requires, in the format it requires it, along with media such as links to photos. This is a piece of work, we can help get staff or services required to do this for you.

Here is the course covering everything

Right now, my absolute favorite source of traffic for online merchants is Google Shopping (aka Product Listing Ads or PLAs). Google Shopping ads are displayed when a user searches for a product in Google. They appear along the top of or often in the upper right hand side of a search results page (see below). Shopping ads can also be found by clicking the “shopping” tab. What we really care about is the 1-8 shopping ads that appear on the Google search results page (see below) - that’s where the magic happens.
Robert Peston's FB Post talks about the EU agreement being Canda+.

So if you set up a business exporting to the EU in a niche sector such as:

Dentist appliances to Sweden

Professional cookware to Germany

Medical devices to Greece

BMX parts to Italy

Then you had better hope that your business, as Peston says, is part of the EU access that is currently most valuable.

This implies quite logically, that prioritisation is going to take place within the Department for Brexit, for the EU trade deal. Like all negotiations, you prioritise what you need to keep and also what you are prepared to lose.

They can't possible look at the needs of all businesses across the UK in negotiations, so they will look at what is most important. Whilst they do that they will either accommodate, ignore or decide to trade-off those businesses of least importance (to the country, not the business owners).

So if your business niche is not showing up as a % of GDP, or doesn't have the lobbying power of multi-nationals, then the Department of Brexit may give your business one of these outcomes.

Your business needs are understood and protected (get lobbying now)

Your business needs are ignored as part of negotiations, which will give a random outcome, either positive or negative based on country level negotiation. For example due to NHS influences medical devices are not hit with tariffs, but this was nothing to do with your particular niche. It could equally have been negative based on what group your business was placed in.

Your business needs are understood, but they were then exchanged for an advantage to another industry. For example, to gain the NHS concessions on medical devices, cookware and BMX parts will be hit by tariffs.

When you set up your business, did you ever think that it would be a pawn in Inter-Government trade deal?

Or that your Government may sacrifice your business in order to gain advantage for another business sector?

Was Government not negotiating well on your business's behalf, a risk you perceived?

Welcome to the Department of Brexit, deciding your business's future for you because Governments always do that better than businesses!

Does your business need a warehouse in the EU? Let me help.
