The new CIFAS report shows fraud increase of 10%. It shows massive growth in identity fraud.

As a retailer this highlights that there is nothing a fraudster likes more than gaining access to your best and most trusted customers profile.

They may do this off site, through email or through your site and then use the customers or another card. The problem for you as a retailer is that you are likely to pass the fraudulent order through your fraud process unless you have picked up the account changes.

As a ecommerce retailer you should monitor changes in passwords, addresses and card details.

If these change then you should rescore customers, even if they have good order history with you, as this may be an account takeover about to cost you a lot of money.

Of course your genuine customers will also do all of these things without any bad intentions to your business.
